Rutas y visitas guiadas por Tegueste
If you are looking for a place to enjoy the landscape on your visit to Tenerife, certainly Tegueste is one of them. This municipality is located in the northeast area of the island. It is not a coastal area, but it is known for its varied vegetation. Discover the different routes and its surrounding environment!
The town and its attractions
The town of Tegueste is located in a river basin area. Hence its name, which translates as guanches terms “wet”. Albeit a largely mountainous village, in the town you can find several places of interest, including the House of Zamorano, House Prebendado Pacheco, Church of San Marcos, La Placeta, the road of Los Laureles, Bridge Palo or the House of Tacoronte. They are places with centuries of history and of great interest.

Guided tours in Tegueste
Tegueste is also located northwest of the Anaga Mountains, southeast of Bandera Mountain and Mesa Mota, and southwest of the Vega de La Laguna mountain range. For all these reasons it is a perfect area for biking, hiking or walking.
The Tourist Office and the city council of Tegueste are committed to promote more than 30 itineraries to discover the town and the richness of the island. You can see all the routes offered in the program, but we want to highlight the following proposals:
- Historic town of Tegueste: every Thursday from 11am to 1pm you can assist to a guided tour (in Spanish, English, German or French) to walk throughout the old part of the village and learn more about the traditional Canarian architecture. You only must have to register in the same Tourist Office and pay 2 € per person.

- “On the trail of the Guanches”: for those who want to learn even more about the history of Tegueste, the municipality also offers this route in which you will discover the development of the Menceyato de Tegueste after the conquest. The itinerary includes walking through San Cristóbal de La Laguna, San Diego and Camino Real de Las Peñuelas.

- Anaga and the Biosphere Reserve: although only 7% of the territory of Tegueste belongs to Anaga Mountains, this is the part that enhances the landscape value of the Biosphere Reserve. There you can identify the different local vegetation (laurisilva) and all the areas of vineyards and wineries, perfect for wine lovers! You’ll also discover other paths, like the Agua de Dios ravine, one of the most emblematic sites of the Canary Aboriginal culture and habitat. Another route to consider is cycling by the Rural Park of Anaga passing by the Pista Forestal, La Orilla, Barranco de la Goleta, Pista de los Dornajos, La Quebrada, El Moquinal, El Ajuntadero, Solís and the Casa Franco.
