Barranco de Masca, Tenerife
- Excursion length: 4 hours
- Difficulty level: 3
- Activity type: Adventure
Excursion description
Today, the village of Masca and its ravine form part of the major attractions of the island of Tenerife.
The route begins at the hamlet of Masca in the north-west of Tenerife at an altitude of around 600 m, where visitors can still see typical houses and learn about some of the island's oldest traditions.
The descent of the ravine takes around 3.5 - 4 hours and involves walking on rough, rocky paths that require a reasonable level of fitness and muscle tone.
However, this effort is more than rewarded by this excursion into a unique and unrivalled environment. A true labyrinth through the natural and geological history of the Teno mountain range.
At the end of the ravine we will reach the well-known bay of Masca, where we will embark for a short but spectacular boat ride along the Los Gigantes cliffs, towards our return to the civilised world of Puerto Santiago.
